When did you join DC Thomson?
I started with the company in 2001
What’s your role in DC Thomson?
I have worked in several different departments around the business including Subscriptions, Postal and Audiotext before moving to Enterprise in Summer 2012. Initially working in the department as an Audiotext and Photosales Assistant, in 2013 I was promoted to Marketing Executive and in the summer 2014 to Senior Marketing Executive for our Promotions and Photo Sales team.
What makes your working day enjoyable?
After working in Promotions for several years it was both exciting and challenging to take on Photo Sales. We are a relatively new team who are all excited to be part of a growing area for DC Thomson. Enterprise is a great department to work in and every day is different as we seek out new opportunities to generate revenue. My role now involves managing a team and I am really enjoying it.
Tell us a little about the part you play in making DC Thomson a success?
My role involves liaising with many departments across the business and working with them to develop new products and increase revenue. I have been involved in the implementation of the PhotoshopScotland website and the digitizing of our photographic archives. This is a fantastic project to work on as we discover archive material that we can utilise to add revenue. We have completely changed our approach to Promotions to accommodate changes in the wider marketplace. A major part of my role is to implement the new strategies and to ensure our activities remain profitable and competitive.
What is your highlight of being part of DC Thomson?
Promotions and Photo Sales are part of many different initiatives allowing me the opportunity to work with other departments across the business which is something I have always loved to do. It’s great to be involved with promotions like Tele Tots and Happy Tots as these events are great fun and a fantastic opportunity to connect with readers. Another highlight from the last year has been the launch of our new website PhotoshopScotland – it’s great to see a project like this being launched and knowing you were a part of it.
