Crime Reporter

DC Thomson & Co Ltd

Location:- Dundee

Closing Date:- Friday 18th August 2017

A unique opportunity has arisen to join one of Scotland’s most accomplished news teams as a crime reporter for the Evening Telegraph.

Dundee is a city on the up with its £1 billion Waterfront regeneration, buzzing cultural quarter and busy night-time economy. But it’s also home to one of the liveliest police beats in the country.

As our crime correspondent, you’ll have your finger on the pulse when it comes to what’s happening on the city’s streets – and be first on the scene to report from major incidents.

You’ll break regular exclusives sourced from your own contacts or investigative work, telling our readers about the things that matter to them in their communities, and hold the authorities to account over their performance.

In addition, there will be opportunities to cover cases at High Court and Sheriff Court level.

This is a fantastic chance to join the famous DC Thomson brand at its newly-renovated headquarters in the heart of Dundee city centre, and a newspaper which continues to innovate, grow and produce industry-leading firsts.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified journalist with significant experience of working in a newsroom setting, 100wpm shorthand and a full UK driving licence.

The ability to work a patch and work to strict deadlines are also essential.

To apply for this role, please follow our online application process and submit a CV, cover letter and an example of your work.
